Ganda the Rhinocerous, Oil on canvas, 30" x 40"

Ganda was gifted and regifted across the sea by powerful men in the 1500s, leading to her early death. She was also memorialized in art in a woodcut by Dürer. The elephant in the background is Hanno, a white elephant also involved in the gift-giving activities.
